Rennes 1 – Nice 2:Rennes succumb to Nice with 2-1 defeat at the Roazhon Park

Rennes were defeated at home by Nice at the Roazhon Park on Sunday. Rennes were looking to continue their run after winning last match whilst Nice lost 3-0 in the last match they played against RC Strasburg. After today’s result, Rennes and Nice are 2nd, (31 points) and 3rd, (30 points), spots respectively, after 18 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Nice, thanks to Kasper Dolberg finding the net at the 19 minute mark to see out the first half 0-1.

The Eagles started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with a goal from Youcef Atal at the 51 minute mark. In the end though, Rennes hit back though, 59 minutes in, with a goal from Benjamin Bourigeaud and seeing the game end 2-1.

For Rennes, Kamal-Deen Sulemana, Sehrou Guirassy, Lorenz Assignon, Lesley Ugochukwu and Loum Tchaouna, came on for Martin Terrier, Baptiste Santamaria, Hamari Traore, Benjamin Bourigeaud and Jonas Martin. Nice brought on Flavius Daniliuc, Calvin Stengs, Evann Guessand, Kephren Thuram-Ulien and Morgan Schneiderlin, to replace Kasper Dolberg, Justin Kluivert, Amine Gouiri, Hicham Boudaoui and Pablo Rosario.

There were bookings for Baptiste Santamaria from Rennes, and Walter Benitez, Pablo Rosario, Amine Gouiri and Hicham Boudaoui, for Nice.

Rennes will next travel to AS Mónaco, while Nice will face RC Lens at home.
