Verona 1 – Atalanta 2:Atalanta take all 3 points, after 2-1 victory against Hellas Verona

Verona were defeated at home by Atalanta at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi on Sunday. Both Verona and Atalanta arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Verona were looking to pick up points, following a 4-3 victory against Venezia. Atalanta were coming from consecutive wins against Napoli and Venezia. As the table looks today, Verona are in 10th place on the table and has 23 points while Atalanta sit in 3rd with 37 points after 17 matches.

Verona started strongly in the first half, thanks to Giovanni Simeone finding the net, at 22 minutes. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Aleksey Miranchuk equalised for The Goddess at the 37 minute mark, which brought Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

Atalanta continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from Teun Koopmeiners in the 62nd minute. The game ended 2-1.

For Verona, Miguel Veloso, Daniel Bessa, Bosko Sutalo and Matteo Cancellieri, came on for Ivan Ilic, Kevin Lasagna, Giangiacomo Magnani and Federico Ceccherini. Atalanta replaced Hans Hateboer, Duvan Zapata, Josip Ilicic, Matteo Pessina and Jose Luis Palomino with Davide Zappacosta, Mario Pasalic, Luis Muriel, Aleksey Miranchuk and Giuseppe Pezzella.

There were bookings for Federico Ceccherini and Gianluca Caprari from Verona, and Duvan Zapata, for Atalanta.

Verona will next travel to Torino, while Atalanta will face Roma at home.
