Villarreal 2 – Rayo 0:Travelling Rayo are humbled in a 2-0 defeat by Villarreal

Rayo Vallecano fell to an away defeat at the hands of Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica on Sunday. Villarreal were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Seville. As it stands, Villarreal and Rayo sit 13th, (19 points) and 6th, (27 points), spots respectively, after 17 matches.
The first half of the game started favourably for Villarreal, thanks to Aissa Mandi giving The Yellow Submarine the lead, at 32 minutes. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Gerard Moreno at the 36 minute mark. The score at half time was 2-0. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.
For Villarreal, Etienne Capoue, Samuel Chukwueze, Alberto Moreno, Moi Gomez and Paco Alcacer, came on for Dani Parejo, Yeremi Pino, Boulaye Dia, Manu Trigueros and Gerard Moreno.
